As part of the MNCHIP project Women’s Health to Wealth (WHW) upgraded the warehouse which serves as the place for the storage of shipments from Americares, WHW’s partner in the United States of America, for onward distribution to sub recipients of the Gift-In-Kind (GIK) program. The building had substantial external structural defects, lighting and ventilation issues that required urgent redress. A contract was awarded to a local real estate firm to renovate the warehouse. The renovation works started on May 10, 2022 and was fully completed on July, 25, 2022.
The renovation works carried out were as follows:
- Introduction of ceiling joist and noggin to carry high quality plastic T&G ceiling with corner moldings
- Installation of two (2) Midea 2.5HP standing AC units, copper pipes and accessories wiring and external unit installation
- Sand and chipping with quarry dust and cement, for reconstruction of access ramp into the warehouse and some periphery works
- Introduction of lockable glazed windows in the positions of the windows to control draft through existing jalousie windows.
- Connection of electricity from power grid-ECG and acquisition of single phase meter for the warehouse and conduit to hide exposed wiring and additional electrical wiring to complement existing electrical sockets, lighting and switches.
- Stabilizing of walls and sand papering of flacking paint and repainting of the interior walls of the warehouse space and the entire exterior walls using American Acrylic paint (gloss)
- To improve security measures at the warehouse, a glass security door and metal roller shutter gate was installed at the warehouse.
- Further to the renovation works, six 1000kg shelves were installed at the warehouse to improve warehousing capacity.
