Its Real Individuals, Not Just Numbers

When I looked at the organization’s aim of creating wealth for women and girls through the promotion of healthy living, education, income generation and leadership development. I saw it as an opportunity to be part of the process and the team to empower, impact the lives of women, girls and people who are disadvantaged in our communities.

I currently provide monitoring and evaluation support for the Girls Club Project, Well Woman Clinic and Maternal and Newborn Care. My job is to help the team track the impact of the program. At the end of the month, we review the activities and discuss whether we are meeting our program objectives and further provide technical assistance to the staff.

This project has gone a long way in helping to impact the mothers and children in the various communities we are working with. There are thousands of women screened for Cervical cancer and also for non-communicable diseases. Moreover, there is the reduction of unwanted pregnancy and improved knowledge on attitudes and practices of girls on Adolescent Sexual and Reproductive Health. The Maternal and Newborn care has improved by reducing neonatal mortalities rates caused by birth asphyxia and neonatal sepsis in the health facilities. There is an improve quality of routine screening and preventive care, provision of medicines and supplies to women during antenatal care, delivery and postnatal care.

It is not just about the numbers. It is about real people who have benefitted from the intervention provided to them in the communities.
