Angela Osei Boatemaa: A Journey of Resilience and Determination

Angela Osei Boatemaa, a very brilliant and intelligent young woman has been challenged when she got pregnant whilst in school.

Angela was a BS8 student at the Mankranso D/A Junior High School ‘B’ in the Ahafo Ano South West District of the Ashanti Region when the Girls Club was introduced in 2022. This Girls Clubs as established by Women’s Health to Wealth is aimed at providing adolescent girls with sexually reproductive health information to guide them make right choices, so to reduce the rate of teenage pregnancy and help reduce pregnancy related school drop-outs. Angela, despite being a club member and an active one, got pregnant. She said she got pregnant as a teenager because her mom struggled with money, and her friends influenced her to date someone to help out.

She stressed she’s very thankful to her facilitators and Women’s Health to Wealth for not abandoning her, as they encouraged and motivated her to continue to come to school and went ahead to talk to her mother to take care to her newborn baby Ohemaa so she could focus on her studies.

Despite being heavily pregnant while taking her Basic Education Certificate Exams, Angela Osei Boatemaa persevered and achieved an impressive aggregate score of ten (10). She is currently enrolled at Yaa Asantewaa Girls Senior High School, pursuing General Science with the aspiration of becoming a medical doctor. Angela's determination was further evidenced by her performance in the First Term exams, where she ranked 5th out of 84 students. Meanwhile, Baby Ohemaa, who is nearly 7 months and 2 weeks old, remains healthy and robust, thanks to the diligent care provided by her grandmother Rebecca while Angela focuses on her studies and aspirations.
